Alex Bennett
Associate Director
I spent a large proportion of my final year at University, researching various opportunities, having realised the growing importance of traffic and

transportation. After completing my degree in Geography I worked in an engineering consultancy division of a major national housebuilder.
When looking for a new position to develop my career; it was the uniqueness of Millard Consulting that ticked the right boxes for me. It is an ambitious company, with drive and enthusiasm radiating throughout the business and a philosophy of encouraging, supporting and involving staff, at all levels.
Just over a year ago, after only two years with the company, I was promoted to Associate Director and am now an integral part of the senior management team. I am responsible for managing projects and growing the traffic and transportation service within the Midlands region.
My experience at Millard Consulting, leaves me in no doubt that they will encourage and assist me to achieve my goals, and that my career will continue to be developed.
Relaxing outside of the workplace is very important to me and I enjoy a variety of activities to keep fit, including swimming, going to the gym, playing golf and walking.
Working for the organisation has allowed me to become a more creative and dynamic individual and my role carries high job satisfaction. Our technical abilities and capabilities allow us to take on exciting river and coastal projects for clients ranging from local authorities to private developers.
The new Norwich office has a vibrant, friendly atmosphere even though we all like to keep busy. I am looking forward to many more years at the organisation and hope my career continues to progress.
In my spare time I enjoy playing badminton and socialising with friends. I also enjoy the volunteer work that I do with the Broads Authority, which involves footpath maintenance, habitat creation and stakeholder involvement.

I went to Dundee University where I gained a 2:1 honours degree in Environmental Management, followed by a Masters of Research in Civil Engineering. After leaving university in 2004
"outdoor enthusiast who's not afraid to get her hands dirty"
I worked in a consultancy, before moving to local government. I started with the environmental team at Millard Consulting in January 2008, based in Dundee.
Being originally from Forfar in Angus, I haven’t moved very far from home, but I love this part of the world. I really enjoy all the outdoor sports that are available within easy reach, especially climbing, mountain biking and white water kayaking; so for me this is an ideal place to both live and work.
After some time in local government, it has been great to get back to the buzz of consulting, I am really busy; working on a number of projects. I am working towards becoming a chartered environmentalist through the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment and have been to a number of industry related conferences, particularly related to risk assessment within the contaminated land sector.
