Norwich Castle Mound, Norwich

Norwich City Council

The Norman Castle is a Grade I Listed Building and is constructed on a Mound that is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Built approximately 900 years ago the Mound and Castle have both been re-built and re-modelled on a number of occasions.

One of the most significant recent alterations saw a part of the eastern side of the Mound removed in order to construct the Shirehall and later the Shirehall Chambers, which now house the Military Museum. The Shirehall is a Grade 2 Listed Building.

Millard Consulting was commissioned to undertake investigations and assessment of retaining walls and slope stability of the eastern section of Norwich Castle Mound.

The following activities are part of the investigation:

historical desk study
topographic and level survey of the eastern embankment
intrusive site investigation
arboricultural survey of the eastern embankment
inspection, assessment and monitoring of the retaining walls at the base of the eastern embankment
assessment of findings and preparing designs for embankment stability and soil erosion
report with recommended proposals and budget costs

Webster Theatre, Arbroath

Angus Council

Introduction

The Webster Memoria Hall was converted from a small community venue in the 1960's, reopening as the Webster Theatre in 1970. Over three decates later the theatre was in need of significant aesthetic and operational modernisation. A predominantly community based theatre, it serves both Arbroath and the wider rural community of Angus.
