How we can help

Structural engineers are responsible for producing engineering design or calculations. Structural engineers may design the individual structural elements of a structure, for example the beams, columns, and floors of a building. More experienced engineers would be responsible for the structural design and integrity of an entire system, such as how a building in its entirety resists vertical and lateral forces on it without collapsing or failing to function.

All developments are likely to require a structural engineer at some point. Discussing your aspirations before putting a spade in the ground will lead to the desired solution with the minimum effort during construction.

We can work from your architectural drawings to design the structural elements for your project needed in the submission for Building Regulations (Building Warrant in Scotland). Building Regulations / Warrant approval is a separate matter from obtaining planning permission for your work. When your property is showing signs of subsidence in the foundations, movement or cracking of the walls, you may need a Structural Engineer to carry out an inspection.

We have Chartered and experienced engineers who are members of these professional and industry bodies:

  • Institution of Structural Engineers
  • Structural Engineers Registration (Scotland)
  • Institution of Civil Engineers

To get the best out of your site or project, structural engineers can advise on ground investigation requirements which, when combined with other sectors, will provide a thorough and specific assessment for the ground works and foundation solutions.
