Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT) appoints a new board member
The Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT) has strengthened their Council and Transport Policy Board by appointing a new board member; Martin Doughty of multi-disciplined consulting engineers Millard Consulting.
The Transport Policy Board has been established to build on and strengthen the Institution's focus on transport and its links to social, economic and environmental well-being. With over 20 years experience in highway engineering and transport related schemes, Martin’s appointment comes after six years on the East Anglian Branch of the IHT, promoting sustainable transport and safer highway infrastructure.
Commenting on his new role he said: “This new post is a great opportunity to help shape the future of transport and its integration in the environment. My main aim is to fully expand the understanding of greener transport issues associated with planning sustainable development for everyone’s benefit”.
Martin, a Director with Millard Consulting, leads the organisation’s Infrastructure team in the Norwich office, providing advice to both public and private sector clients on all aspects of infrastructure and transportion for new and regeneration projects. He is also an Engineering Advisor to Nottingham University.
Career highlights include planning & securing transport measures and infrastructure for residential developments of various sizes; ranging from two to 3000 dwellings, as well as the design of business parks and commercial centres from 4ha to 102ha.
East Anglian team strengthened
Graham Gilleberg
We have strengthened our East Anglian team with the appointment of Graham Gilleberg as Director at the Norwich head office.
Graham has 25 years experience in the construction industry with specialisations in civil engineering and the utilities sector. He is an Incorporated Engineer and an Associate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (AMICE).
Over the past four years Graham has been applying strategic, senior project management experience on a number of high profile Millard Consulting schemes both in Norwich and across the UK. His promotion comes in recognition of his hard work and commitment to both Millard Consulting East Anglia and the Millard Consulting Group.
HR gains star player
Andy Daniels
Andy joined the company after working for nearly three years for Gardline Group, as Group HR Manager based in Gt. Yarmouth. He has over fifteen years of HR management experience in a number of public and private sector organisations, including Public Utilities, Social Housing, FMCG, Local Authority and Oil & Gas.
He has a BA(Hons) Business Studies, an MSc in Strategic HRM, is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management.
In his spare time Andy runs an equestrian supplies business, based in Mulbarton Norfolk, and is a keen participant in local fund raising events for Cancer Research. He is also very keen on real ale, and a bit of a cinema buff.
New Group Business Development Manager
Stephen Gorton
Stephen, a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institute of Marketing, has over 21 years' construction experience; including seven in design / design management, seven in site engineering and seven in business development, for both contractors and consultants.
As Marketing Manager Stephen has led winning teams across a range of sectors, including power, water, industrial & nuclear sectors using a client focussed, differentiated, approach. This has included leading complex, joint venture and multi-national bid teams.
He is in the final stage of completing an MBA, with an elective bias towards Marketing, from Warwick Business School.
