Transportation is essential to us all. We all depend on travel, and our travel choices affect everyone around us.

At Millard Consulting we understand the importance of strong transport networks which allow people and goods to move in an efficient and sustainable manner. We also realise the important link that transport planning and engineering has in balancing the impact on the environment against infrastructure requirements.

Transport planning and engineering plays a key role in the delivery of schemes which give consideration to key Government policies related to safety, the economy, the environment, accessibility and integration. It is an essential part of the planning process for developments of all sizes. Millard Consulting is fully conversant with current transport planning policy documents across the UK.

We work for public and private sector clients, including some of the countries leading developers and businesses to help them develop transport and travel strategies that are in line with Government policy. We have extensive experience in transport planning and traffic engineering, with a strong background in negotiations with authorities and public transport providers.

Phil is an engineer with over 40 years' experience. He joined Millard Consulting in 2004 and is responsible for managing a team of transportation engineers dealing with all aspects of transportation. Projects have included all aspects of transportation planning and modelling with particular reference to the most efficient use of existing transport networks, preparation, negotiations and implementation of Green commuter Plans and identification of innovative public transport and soft travel mode proposals.

Murray Royal Hospital - Mental Health Developments Project

Perth

In June 2007, NHS Tayside successfully achieved Outline Planning Permission for a £60m redevelopment of Murray Royal Hospital in Perth. The project will provide enhanced modern healthcare facilities at the hospital, which has served the Tayside community since opening in 1827.

Millard Consulting was commissioned to provide transport planning services to supplement the outline planning application. Working closely with the NHS and other project team members we prepared a transport assessment which included an access strategy and off site highway improvement proposals, and a travel plan for the existing hospital, which employs almost 500 people.

Millard Consulting also prepared an air quality assessment and preliminary infrastructure design for a proposed new access into the hospital.

Millard Consulting has been involved with development proposals at Murray Royal Hospital since 2001, providing a preplanning service to the NHS. For more information on the development project at the hospital click here.
