Croft Na Caber is a winner

UK Commercial Property Awards

Croft Na Caber, in Highland Perthshire, was recently named as a winner in the UK Commercial Property Awards for the best commercial redevelopment.

This major water sports centre includes a restaurant, marina, spa, bars, retail space, family areas and apartments.

Ken Pirie, MD for Scotland, said "I'm delighted that Millard Consulting has been active on such a prestigious leisure development in Perthshire.

Projects of this magnitude and standard are extremely rare and being located in the magnificent setting of Loch Tay, it is close to our hearts; as Perthshire is where Millard Scotland originated from, back in 1986.

Ken added "Promotion of such a facility in Perthshire will maintain the County’s status as being one of the UK’s premier tourist destinations. Millard Consulting's involvement has focussed on infrastructure delivery and sustainability with services provided on highway access and traffic impact; drainage and utility provisions; environmental management and efficiency.

We are proud to have been part of the initial delivery team taking the project from feasibility stage through to planning approval and being associated with the award winning practice of McKenzie Strickland Architects and Strathtay Developments who have brought reality to a lifelong vision for the area of Loch Tay."

Result for Rackheath

Millard Consulting, has welcomed the successful shortlisting of the Rackheath Ecotown after playing a central role in the scheme. Millard has been at the forefront of this new technological approach; advising the promoters on traffic and transportation for all aspects of the new development. This has included travel modes, travel planning based on carbon budgets, water cycle strategies, flood risk analysis, foul water drainage strategies, land contamination and remediation, utilities provision, waste disposal, lighting strategies, sustainable construction and BREEAM assessments.

Martin Doughty, MD for Millard Consulting, stated “We are delighted that Rackheath has passed scrutiny and is being supported by the Government. Millard has worked closely with the scheme promoters, to ensure that all aspects have been robustly examined".

"We are delighted that Rackheath has passed scrutiny and is being supported by the Government"

Philip Porter, Millard’s specialist transportation adviser, said “This scheme will demonstrate that people can enjoy a full lifestyle, without reliance on private car use. We hope that the new techniques and experiences gained from these projects can be employed on other new developments, to minimise the impact of climate change.”

Rackheath Eco Town, which was given the go ahead in Housing Minister John Healey’s statement to the House of Commons on Thursday, is one of only four locations in the UK to be given approval. The development of the Eco Towns programme will demonstrate that people can live a low carbon lifestyle, without affecting their enjoyment of life. The proposals for low carbon living will benefit all areas of the resident’s lifestyle.

Millard Consulting is supporting a petition bearing the signatures of 100 company directors, chief executives and partners - men and women who run Norfolk's biggest businesses and hold the fate of more than 30,000 jobs in their hands - to upgrade the A11.

Of great economic importance to the East Anglian region; the A11 connects Norwich and Norfolk to the rest of the UK. Millard Consulting, which has its Head Office based in Norwich, is acutely aware of the positive the effect that this improvement could have for the region.
