Introduction

Television in the UK is going digital, bringing us all more choice and new services. From 2008m the UK will switch to digital TV, transmitter by transmitter.

With digital TV, sound and pictures from the broadcaster are converted into 'bits' of information and sent through the aerial, satelite, telephone line or cable. This digital signal is then turned back into pictures and sound by a digital box or a digital TV set.
