Introduction
BeWILDerwood is an amazing forest of wild family fun and adventure. The concept is a series of tree houses and walkways, zipwires and jungle bridges for the whole family to enjoy.
From key preplanning elements, to the final structural inspections, Millard Consulting provided engineering advice critical to the success of this highly engineered project.
With the high visitor numbers anticipated, adequate access and alternative transport modes needed to be identified.
Scope
The access for the site was carefully designed within the environmental constraints, as is the park itself. Minimising visual intrusion keeping to standard and not compromising highway safety was always crucial. The project was awarded permission, after consultation with planning authorities.
Millard Consulting has advised on important structural design elements ensuring that the parks excitement can be realised safely.
The concept of combining treetop structures with the living forest required a proactive engineering approach, to evaluate and demonstrate the performance of live trees, together with their man-crafted counterparts.
