Introduction
In the heart of Lambeth, near to the Imperial War Museum, Elephant & Castle, Waterloo Station and the Oval Cricket Ground; was the Lambeth Nurses Home, previously used for National Health Services.
Bellway Homes enlisted the assistance of Millard Consulting to prepare the transport statement and access assessment for the proposed residential development. Bellway planned a residential scheme of flats and townhouses which it aimed to redevelop and extend into unique, high end residences. These proposals follow a long history of applications for the site, which is adjacent to the Walcott Estate Conservation Area.
Scope
Millard Consulting provided the access and transport statement, which included analysis of pedestrians, cyclists, public transport measures and trip generation from the site; as well as liaison with London Underground and Transport for London.
To demonstrate compliance with local policy, significant evidence was provided to outline the sustainable location of the site. Additional evidence from the Metropolitan Police showed how, through collaboration, a design with security and natural surveillance in mind can positively affect crime prevention.
Millard Consulting is delighted to be involved in this significant scheme in the heart of London, regenerating a brownfield site.
